My 5 year old son has been trying to use my 10/22 (with my very close assistance of course) to start shooting with. Real early it was pretty evident that it was way too big for him to hold. I had a chipmunk as a kid, does anyone have or used any other gun that would be good for a young boy to start out with? I would like a single shot.

I chopped the butt and forend of a 10-22 that all three of my boys used when the were 6 years old until they grew out of it. It worked fine. Found the stock at a gunshow for $15 and threw it on the table saw.

chipmunks are still around
