taylorce1Savage Anchutz 164 Sporter deal or no deal?
In my quest for a .22 LR bolt action I stumbled across a Savage Anschutz with Vari-X III 4.5-14X40 AO today for $750. Good deal or not? I would rate the wood and metal at 90% or better.

I did! Even shot it today. Was hitting a 2.5" flipper about 75% of the time today at 100 in a stiff wind.

Observe wind..... adjust! Easy to do it with scope and rifle of that quality! Enjoy!

StonecreekYou got a bargain.
The "Savage-Anchutz" was purely Anschutz with nothing on it from Savage except half of the name. At the time they were being imported, Savage was, and had been for some time, almost exclusively catering to the "economy" shooter and building proprietary guns for retailers like Sears and other. As a result, they had a bit of a hard time marketing the upscale Anschutz, so there was price resistance at the retail level and even more at the resale level.
Even today with much more information and more sophisticated buyers, a "Savage-Anschutz" will probably not bring quite as much money as the identical rifle without the "Savage" in front. This makes the ones like you just bought great bargains when you can come across a really nice example. Congratulations!

ConradCAThe scope is worth at least half the price you paid.
