If you don't clean your .22? Do you only shoot one type bullet (lead, plated, copper wash ect)or a mix of whatever?
Thanks Aaron

just say moeBullet style doesn't really matter as much as how "clean burning" the powder is in the brand of ammo. Some are better than others.

AtkinsonMost 22 bullets are actually greased or coated for that very reason.
ONe thing Im sure of and that is Ive never seen a 22 barrel shot out...Ive seen them rusted out and in, but shooting had nothing to do with it.

For rimfire benchrest, there usually isn't any copper, and one of the old-timer recommends to go looking for copper fouling in older 513Ts and get it out.
There are also mutterings about mixing bullet lubes, e.g., shooting Eley after Lapua or Federal without cleaning in between.
Saeed's testing may shed some light on this.

A/C guyI almost never clean the bore. When I do, it's just pull a patch through (no rod). Occasionally, I will flush out the trigger assembly and bolt with solvent, blow out with compressed air. Then lube with CLP and blow out excess.

AtkinsonI don't target shoot other than sighting in..I shoot a lot of rockchucks in my pasture, yard and under the barn, and on occasion I go after running jackrabbits for practice...I shoot whats on sale..and clean my 22s about once a year if that..They all shoot very well..If I was to shoot competition or was in to target shooting I would clean and pick my most accurate bullets..

Pa.FrankI've been shooting a Remington 581 sine the early 70's... I've worn out two magazines (they are plastic, or more correctly, DuPont Nylon) and have put probably close to 15,000 round thru it (maybe more), and have never even thought about putting a brush down the bore... Just as accurate as the day I bought it..
