NavalukAnschultz 64 v. 54
I have been unable to determine the design and part quality difference in these 2 actions, and whether the quality of the fit and finish between these 2 actions is relevant to my decision on which I want on a rifle. I know which is used in competition.
The 64 is better because...... ?
Thanks in advance.

jtinidahoIt's "better" because it is cheaper. That's about it.

NavalukI think I will spend the extra on a 54.
Yes absolutely. Get a nice used one and you won't loose money.
Perhaps the question is: ""will I be able to tell the difference?". An Olympic level shooter will, as the difference will be shown in the target. Having said that, the 54 is more expensive and has a better reputation amongst target shooters. I have a 164 and a 64MS. I don't expect to lose money on those either.

+1
54's are more refined. Spend the extra you'll not regret it.
They are two completely different actions. The 54 is used in their competition and high end sporters. The 64 was used in training rifles and their lower end sporters. Does that mean the 64 is a poor action, absolutely not. Look at the actions and triggers and decide which suits you best.

ray in WenatcheeAnschutz doesn't call itself "meister macher" for nothing....if high quality and endurance matters, the experienced marksman (as opposed to casual shooter) will continue to use Anschutz until something better comes along, proven Olympic gold medal winner. I have the M54, M1413 both almost 50 years old & still great!! What other brand can do that I ask & still be in the winner's circle.
I have a 64 in 22lr and a 54 in 22 hornet and 22 mag. All are highly accurate.
Not sure I am good enough to tell the difference in accuracy.
