Mounting a scope on a Ruger 10/22
Looking to put a Leupold 4x on a Ruger 10/22. I’m trying to decide if I want to use a traditional Weaver style rail or rings that mount directly to the receiver. Looking for advice which system and manufacturer.

Thank you,

Jay

Ruler has a rail that mounts on the receiver, and rings mount on that.

That how we mount all our 10/22.

That’s how I mounted a scope on my first 10/22 and that’s what I planned to do now but I did find rings that mount directly to the receiver so I thought I would ask to find out if there is a better option.

Thank you,

I mou8nted more then several scopes on 10-22's I always used the factory supplied rail.

In 40 years of owning 10-22s I never had a problem doing it that way.

Remember that the 10/22 receiver is aluminum, so not the best for holding screws tight.
Another option is to change your receiver to the one offered by Brownells that has an integral rail and then use rings for a picatinny rail. I think the receivers sell for $80

I’m really trying to keep this simple. Went to Midway today and they didn’t have any rings to mount on a Weaver rail. I’ll use Loc-tite to secure the screws.

Rail supplied with my 10/22. Got 1" dovetail ring mounts (not sure which brand from Cabelas). Works fine.

I usually use the rail Ruger supplies myself. I have a 10/22 I put a rail on back right after I got out of High School back in the late 70's and it has had many many thousands of rounds through it and is still going strong. I believe that rail was the one that came with it.

I have no idea how many 10/22s we have installed scopes on.

Must be several dozens.

All on the original factory rail, never had a problem whatsoever.

Got a number of actions from them years ago, and have installed many after market barrels on these.

Again, all using factory rails.

All worked like a charm.

I have a dozen 10-22's. All have scopes and all have used the Weaver rail that came with each rifle.

I would be happy to use an original but I don't have one. Like I said, I want to keep this as easy as possible.

Maybe Leupold Rifleman 1 piece 10/22 base and Leupold 1" Rifleman Rings?

I like to use a picatinny rail instead the mount that comes with the factory rifle. Ideally 20 moa so I can dial out to 200 yards.

And the ring spacing matches on all pic rails. Makes scope swaps a piece of cake.

The onw piece Talley mount is so much nicer than a rail/rings combo. Lighter too
