Hunting with Model 41??
Anyone using a S&W model 41 for hunting small game?

Yes, several years ago I bought the long barreled [7 or 7.5"] Mod 41 for hunting.

I used a 5" Heavy barreled 41 for NRA Bullseye target shooting, and knew how accurate they are.

Mine have been very reliable as well.

Tremendous for squirrel in thick pine woods. Put a Nikon 2x pistol scope on it. Thing is very accurate if you can hold it. Good enough for squirrels.

If I am not toting my Anschutz rifle I am using the S&W 41 with Nikon 2x scope.

I've used a slab sided Ruger competition target model for shooting jack rabbits and ground squirrels. I've had my best shooting days out hunting with that shooter as it is the most accurate .22 hand gun I have.

I think that hitting anything with a pistol is an accomplishment and using your most accurate shooter for hunting makes a ton of sense.

I've used a High Standard "Victor" for squirrels. GREAT preparation for handgun-Deer hunting.

I don't care for pistol scopes. Get one of those thumb sized reddots. Burris and Leupold along with others make them.

I prefer the Ultradot red dot sights. I've hunted rabbits quite a bit with High Standard and Ruger .22's. Good sport and much more challenging than a rifle or shotgun. Unless shooting always from a rest I shoot much better with a non-magnifying red dot than a scope.
