clipping .22 ammo
Has anybody tried just clipping .22 ammo off even with the brass then testing results? Any hints as to accuracy, velocity?

There are jigs you can buy or make that let a fella file a sharp-edged flatnose on loaded ammo for better effect on game, but cutting off the bore diameter section of the heeled bullet sounds like a waste of ammunition to me.

My buddy Mike Jones did that to a few rounds as a joke when he was bored one time and the result was a waste of ammo. He accidentially shot the first one because he thought he loaded a blank. After firing the "modified" round he than fired the rest. The accuracy was nonexistent at 25 feet.

Interesting. Presumably a guy would have to leave in place a driving band of some size.

To what end? Velocity, I guess. Fun and experimenting around. Ducking the fog, as they say. Why do we do anything with guns? Big Grin

when I was a kid I would take cheap lead solids and cut an x in them thinking that they would expand better on ground squirrels. I have no idea if it helped.
