Improving pistol sights
My dad had one of the first Ruger Marksman I with the fixed sights. Still shoots as good as it did back in 1960.

The problem is comes with the old fixed sights front and back.

What type of trick do you have to improve seeing the sights. Still dead on but the old sight is black on black square notch.

I have tried painting the front sight a white or yellow which seems to help till you shoot paper or such.

Help needed.

#1 - get glasses Big Grin old
#2 - fit a piece of fiber optic into the front or both) sight - especially green as it is one of the colors most visible to the human eye

it just takes a gunsmith with a small mill to cut a grove in the sight and epoxy a piece in

Hard to better the Patridge -IIRC he's the only one who first asked "how does the eye work ?" before designing his sight.
You must be able to sharply focus the front sight ! If not, get glasses. At one time I had an optometrist/shooter . He knew exactly what I was talking about and gave me what I needed for my shotgun !!
For low light you can use , added to Patridge, three whaite dots or the radioactive types.
Plastic glow types are terrible as they are very bright in sunlight but not bright in shade. That means a differenc of 2 clicks adjustment at 50 yds with a M29 ! Hunting with a shotgun or pistol walking through light/dark is terrible ! Popular doesn't mean good !!

Does Burris make a Fastfire mount for it. Fiber is almost useless inside.

I can see but it is hard to on fixed gun blue sights that tend to blend too much unless you are shooting a white or bright target.

Thanks,

Jim

I cannot fig that with the shooters and riggers on the board someone has not rigged a fix at least for the front sight.

I put a peep sight on a Ruger New Model Single Six, works nicely with an orange stripe on the front sight.
