Who makes the cleanest(low fouling) 22 ammo ? It should be suitable for hunting. Thanks

I can't say that I've ever seen any .22 RF ammunition with which fouling was a problem.

I only shoot lubed, lead ammo, no copper was stuff. All of the lubed lead stuff fouls the bore somewhat. The most important thing is to find what ammo brand, and lot, shoots best in the rifle. Besides, no one ever cleans the bore of a 22 Rimfire... It takes about 15 or 20 rounds of your most accurate ammo to "season" the bore so it will shoot it's best.

It's a "new" gun even though it was made back in the 70' and I want to give it a thorough cleaning and then use something that won't require as much cleaning if any on my part

I've gotten in the habit of scrubbing the bore of a new 22 Rimfire rifle real well with JB Bore Paste on a tight fitting patch. I only do it on barrels that aren't lapped by the maker; they don't need it. I run the JB loaded patch throught the bore 100 strokes, and don't let the jag/patch exit the muzzle. I only let the tip of the jag exit the muzzle slightly, where I can feel the jag tip with my finger, then run the patch back to the chamber. I do this so I don't belly out the muzzle and harm accuracy.
I gurantee you that accuracy improves as you are smoothing out tool marks and slight roughness in the bore with the JB trick.
Clean up is a bitch... But, it's worth doing.

Forget the bore scrubbing idea. Just buy a brick of medium priced, non-copper wash, ammo and shoot it.

I've generally found CCI to be pretty clean burning but I use standard velocity mostly. Frankly I don't clean .22LR bores that often as I haven't found any meaningful difference in my Woodsman or 513T before and after scrubbing.
