Wolf ammo
So what's with this stuff. Is Wolf an American importer, or the actual makers brand?

I had the impression it was cheap stuff made in Russia, but I've also heard they can make good .22 target ammo when they want to.

I've read of .223 with steel cases which tends to suggest cheap. Never seen Wolf for sale here but I don't get around much.

My 500 rd. tins of Lapua magazine are going good, seem to have got rid of the odd flyer I used to get with other brands. SK rifle match seemed as good or better in my rifle.
Same head stamp, same factory. I wonder if there is any difference?

I don't know where Wolf 22 match ammo is made now.

I have several boxes of Wolf 22 match ammo that was made in Germany.

Sk Match and Wolf Match Extra are the same.
Sk + and Wolf Match Target are the same.
All of it made in Germany at the same plant and just packaged in different boxes.

kudude, If you mean me, I don't have any. Just curious in case some appear suddenly.
My 77-22 shoots all the Lapua/SK target ammo I've tried quite well . . . for a Ruger. Smiler

I heard that in fact not all SK are made in Germany but made for Germany. Translation of some german text on a box I had indicated that it was made in Russia for the german company.

Wouldn't be supprised. There may be a Chinese line soon.

P.S. Winchester make a lot of ammo in Australia.

A lot of US brand stuff was made in Australia, I remember when Tasco mounts were made there and they were made of steel..

Wolf Ammunition is a Russian clearinghouse company that sells “centerfire†ammunition produced in former state-owned (USSR) factories and there have been both good/bad reviews.

The Wolf rimfire ammo is as I stated above; all produced in Germany by a subsidiary of Lapua and packaged as Sk or Wolf, etc.

I have used quite a number of different brands in my 10/22's and find that consistently, SK and Wolf deliver the best accuracy at the best price. However, the price of this ammo has risen greatly, and there may be some other brands that will compete neck and neck like American Eagle. Still, wolf and sk are very good. Kudude

I just opened a brick of Wolf that I purchased a couple of years ago. It is the standard velocity, solid point bullet. I'm a little bit leery. The ammo feels oily or greasy. I don't have a clue. Stoney

Stoney,
Don't worry about how it feels. Shoot it. You'll like it. It really is very good ammo. Kudude

Sounds normal with bulk Lapua/SK/Wolf. In the 500 round tins of Lapua I buy there is lub all over.
Just as much on the case as the bullet, and more in the tin for luck. Smiler

Wolf rimfire ammo is good stuff. It and SK are strongly rumored to be from the same factory which is then strongly rumored to be Lapua. I think there is credence to that thought.

I've shot the SK Std Plus next to the lower priced Wolf Match and could not find a measureable difference between the two.

My only "issue" with Wolf is how really crappy some of it's brand labled centerfire ammo is. Thus a strong bias I have agsinst it.

For me I'd just go for the SK Std Plus in lieu of the Wolf on this basis alone.
