shagunseI,m pretty sure Kevin Hack owns the rifle that killed Old Groaner......................................If you can find a copy ,,,, READ Handloggers!!!!!!! To ROW 250,000 bord feet of logs from Yes Bay to Ketchikan takes at least a man and a half ...............For the same man to be treed by a pack of wolves says something about wolves!!!!!!!

p.e. n' sitkaHanlogger Jackson is probably the most cherished book in my stash. Been in SE AK since 2002 w/ the Coast Guard. Met a really great hospitable couple while at St.James Bay on a spring bear hunt last year. The couple runs the satellite hatchery off the little bay on the Lynn Canal side, just north of SJ Bay. They were so dang hospitable, fed me & my partner the best venison steaks ever on their boat. Over dinner, they recommended :"Handlogger Jackson", as a good read. I told em; I'd look it up at the bookstore when back in town??? They infoed it was probably out of print & without hesitation, were kind enough to loan me their copy w/ their address printed on the inside cover for mailing back when finished. All's they asked of us was if we could do a mail run for em' when back in town. I ended up picking up my own copy about 6 months back on e-bay.
Seems like better times back in Jacksons day, but was also very refreshing to my soul to see taht the same old style hospitality & trust (so very rare to be found these days) still exists in SEAK. Complete strangers took us in, shared a meal, drinks & good conversation.
