Guide for Kodiak Brown Bear
Hi guys. I was lucky enough to draw a Kodiak brown bear tag for the spring of 214. The hunt area is DB 250 S. Spiradon Bay. I am looking for a guide. ADF&G lists Mike Munsey as having concession for this area. Anyone have experience with Mike? Any other guides you would reccomend? Thanks in advance for any insights. Paul.

Paul, not really much help, but my Father hunting with old man Munsey and took an honset 9 foot back in the 60's all ways said he was a stand up guide and an excellent judge of bears,, bet his son isn't any different

Since the USFWS controls who guides in each area you will have to go with the guide who has the area. The good news is that Mike is a very good guide.

I hunted with Mike a few years back and the experience was all good. The guides were very experienced and we saw many bears, 40 or so. I ended up with a big one as did all but one guy out of the 6 that were there. He turned down several animals and Mike gave him a discount on an upcoming hunt. This was all the more remarkable because we encountered several hunters that had been out for 14 days and hadn't seen one bear. I can't speak highly enough about Mike's operation, use him you won't be sorry.
