D997 more years any ideas?
Well I was just looking at my active duty paperwork and I only have 7 years left of being an Alaskan resident and not living in Alaska.
Since I am in the Navy I have to complete this shore tour in Italy (18months), spend 3 years in a deploying sea-duty unit and then I have another shore tour before retirement.
The plan is to take a recruiting job in Fairbanks, but still not sure.
I was also thinking of coming home for a few weeks in the summer of 2009 and buying a piece of property near Fairbanks and then spending summers of up there building on it and clearing it.
The Navy only has about 8 or 9 recruiting stations in Alaska. Obviously Fairbanks would be the cheapest place to retire, and it's centrally located so I like it.
I lived in Sitka and Barrow when I worked for NSB police department.
I like Sitka but in the summer I wouldn't like it, and I liked barrow but only in the Summer.
I think Faibanks gives me the oppertunity to get my teaching certificate, then I've got a base to work on that and move onto the teaching part.
I wouldn't mind teaching in Anaktuvik Pass, Kaktovik, Nome, Bethel, but Fairbanks would be good too.
Any thoughts or suggestions. I had thought about buying a 50-75 foot used motor yacht and trying to work the outitter guide racket, but I don't think it is something that I would enjoy.
thanks for your thoughts.

CollinsRead "What Color is Your Parachute" Find out what you REALLY WANT to do and then make your decisions based on that. I did and I'm happy doing something I never even thought of when I was reading the book. I bet the "Stars and Stripes" has it on the shelves right now. It's an easy and entertaining read. let me know how it works for you.
