what were the winter snowfall levels in the fairbanks area this winter: above or below average, and what might the levels be yet in mid May. Thanks

I would recommend you go into the SNOTEL site on the internet. It is done by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Contains data on current snowpack as well as total moisture equivalent for the water year (1 Oct to 30 Sep). I generally look at the total moisture equivalent. The current snowpack is more useful for things like predicting runoff and if downstream reservoirs have capacity to hold it. I don't think many people, including the NRCS, are interested in trying to predict snowpack 2 months in advance. If you can do it, you can probably make a lot of money.

Just basing on how the spring has gone so far, I don't think there is going to be any snow left mid may.

There won't be any snow in May around town. It was in the mid 50's here this afternoon. Most of the baseball fields are almost clear.

I spent the night in Fairbanks on Monday/Tuesday. It was in the high 50s and there was almost no snow at all.

Only about an inch of snow left at the back of my house, but the snow on the front yard melted last week.
