Has anyone hunted with Vern Humble´s outfit for bear in area 16B? Is late August a good time for bear in that area?

I don't know the outfitter but I can tell you after 20 plus years in brown bear country that August is a less than ideal time to hunt brown bear. Sept/Oct is much better for the coat quality. If you are going to pay the big bucks for a bown bear hunt you should hunt when you have the best chance of taking a bear with a good coat and August is not the time.

Agreed. I would not recommend early hunts for bear or goats. They don't look quite right. Hunt late if at all possible. Besides, that gives you better stories about being weathered in for days!
