triggerHelicopters?
There must be a good reason, but why do I not see any fly out services using helicopters in Alaska?
Cost to operate?
High winds/ice/snow?
High Elevation?
Seems like a helicopter with floats could land almost anywhere.
Thanks

RMillerHelicopters are illegal for hunting use in Alaska.
I do believe there are some fishing charters that use them.
They are also used for skiing/snowboarding in the winter.

LAWCOPWHY are helicopters illegal to use in Alaska for Hunting????
in a state where everything is done by air???
Yep, it's way too easy to use helicopters. As a helicopter mechanic, I'd love to see all the Beavers, C185's, C205's, Super Cubs, etc. be replaced with 'fling wing' aircraft. The money would be outstanding!!!
But, as a hunter, I don't think it would be a good idea.

p dog shooterThe bush and fixed wing operators have too big of a lobby. It to would not take long for lot of them to loose bussiness to the helicopters.
pds,
They would all have to switch airframes. Guess who would pay for that?

Of course, we'd see a bunch more pictures of 350lb hunters sitting on a peak with a dead Mt Goat laying at their feet.

WashougalChrisI thought in Alaska you were not allowed to hunt the same day you fly? If so, then I would think helicopters wouldn't give you much more of an advantage.
Thanks,

ovisTrigger,
Hell, getting buzzed on a regular basis w/fixed wingers is bad enough in some areas.............we really don't need the helicopters, too.
