In the 60's and 70's there was an albino cow here on the Kenai, a couple of miles below the Kasilof River. Every 5 years or so, she seemed to pop out another! Haven't seen any of her brood in a long time. If I can find it, I'll scan a copy of her picture. It was real interesting to watch her come out of the willows...you didn't know where the moose ended and the snow began and visa-versa!

Did you take the photo? I think I have seen a photo similar to this one in the past couple of years...In GMU 20C the regulations prohibit shooting "white-phased or partial albino" moose, and for that reason alone I would like to go hunt there, just to see one of beasts!. Coldfoot, however, is a long way from the Kantishna River..pretty cool animal though. Thanks for posting the photo.

There was at least one albino cow near Healy in the late 70's & early 80's. A close friend who I worked with on the railroad took a photo of her.

LMAO Is it not hilarious how a moose will try to hide behind a aspen sapling ? lol. I bet that one sticks out !

Sure would make a nice trophy if you could find a bull.

A couple years ago there was a picture of an albino cow moose that was taken between the west end of Riding Mountain National Park and Hwy 83 north of Russell in western Manitoba. Apparantly she had a normal calf with her. Unfortunantly I can't seem to locate the picture. It seems to me there are more cases of albino moose than there is of other deer or elk.Anyone have any hard information on this?

I've never seen one in the flesh, but I've seen pictures of a bull before. Not in AK, though. There is some of this genetic propensity that seems to show up from time to time in the moose around Hickson BC. When I was living there, the F & G guys asked hunters not to shoot them, even if they saw them and were legal.

I never actually saw one there (other than in photos), but I have to tell you, had a seen a legal bull, I'm not sure I could have just let it go.
