I believe you'll find there is sheep, goats, caribou, muskox (possibly), elk, sitka deer, and more.

However....if you're looking to Alaska don't forget to go fishing while there!

I can help you arrange almost anything you'd like in Alaska whenever you are ready. I lived, hunted there for over 22 years and know the country well.

yes, but i cant afford to spend 15.000$ on a hunt(moose or grizzly) for at least 5 years.

so i was wondering if it was possible to hunt in Alaska for bit less.

......Or you can fly into some [REAL] hunting country , Southeast Alaska and hunt Moose, Deer, Elk, Black bear , and especially wolf .. . If you are going to come here and shoot a prey species you should help us out by killing a major predator also ........

Everyone wants to come to Alaska and shoot our moose deer goats elk , ect... they need to concentrate on the meat eaters also .!!!!

Petersburg is really a great place to hunt ... Lots of Norsks there . You could get by fairly well in Petersburg if your english wasn,t so good , and go to the Husfleden [ I think thats how its spelt ].. good road system and some of the best inside water ways ., .. . Lots of waterfowl hunting also ....,

You can fly in on Alaska airlines , Rent a car or SUV and access alot of very good hunting country ,,, There are skiff rental places and the salt water isn,t nearly as big as out of Whittier ..

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

... Execellent 9.3 country ...

For the above species you don,t need a guide ...
You can research Petersburg Alaska online , I think you will be impressed ..

i understand your feelings.
the ideal would be to live outside for a week or two.
hunt a deer, fish, collect firewood, relax and stuff like that.
to get the oppurtunity to shoot a wolf would be an awesome bonus, but i've heard that they are pretty shy and hard to get close to.
and when we are adding that i'm in a complete stranger in the area, my odds doesn't look to good.

hmm...Petersburg is really far south(at about 57degrees?), do they have spiders, snakes or other nasty creatures there?

......

It is in the Alexander Archapelego . It is a sub artic rain forest .... A year ago I would say you should be [b --t ] for turning loose a 9.3 ...

There are plenty of wolves on Mitkof Is. but they tend to be a target of opportunity ,.,., ....... The problem with hunting on the mainland where the road system is , is Anchorage and the hunderd thousand hunters who go everywhere and screw up the hunting .... You could do great on Mitkof Is . . , not near the hunting pressure .., easier to get here and there .... ,,,, 300 Whby thumbdown

The problem with Mitkof is a 2-week season (except for bow.)

Seen some pictures of some nice ones right in town on Sandy Beach Rd.

Hej Steffan, you know they have the Little Norway Festival in Petersburg, right? Mid-May.

If you read the hunting regs you'll see that for non resident aliens, i.e. visitors from other countries, have to be guided for all big game species.

I don't know of any guides for deer hunting, most outfits are transporters that drop you off in a hunting area or transport you around in a boat and drop you off each day for hunting. But again, as a non US citizen you are required to have a guide for all big game species.

If you make it to Alaska, the 300 Wby will be just fine. I would load it with 200 gr premium bullets to about 2900fps. This is not for the little deer we have, 200 lbs being very large, but for the bear that may want to challenge your right to your trophy. I personally like wide heavy bullets, but the Wby with the 200's will get the job done nicely.

well, you can't argue with the law.

It's a pity as it would be nice to have friends from other countries come up and take them out after black bears or deer, but that's only an option for licensed guides.
