Hey guys/gals just curious if any of you have hunted Glacier bears and if so where at.

Many thanks

mark;

there are not a lot of outfitters that hunt the glacier bear and the success rate is low.

i can tell you do not hunt the glacier bear with jim h. keeline, inc. the only thing you will get from him is a red ass. thumbdown

good luck

I've only seen one since coming to Alaska....tough to find....the one I saw was small....I was by myself at the time.....tough to find one, much less a decent sized one.

I had a hunter that take a dark phase Glacier Bear over in the Misty Fjords on the mainland east of Ketchikan. It was a 6 1/2 foot Bear.

There have been a few taken over there over the years and one or two on Ketchikan's Island. All of the dark phase.

#1 area would be Yakutat.

I have personally seen 1 glacier bear in the Juneau area "out the road." This was about 3 years back. I walked right along side the road while we were looking at a road improvement project on this section of highway.

I have also seen 1 cinnamon phase black bear south of town near our family cabin.

Good luck.

BTW, I took this "glacier" deer about three years ago. The ADF&G says it's the same type of recessive genetics that causes the glacier bear color phase.
