JBabcockTundra Grizzly from Nome
My brother just shot this bear a couple of days ago. Squared out at 7'5", that's big for a sow.
Another...
300 Weatherby did the trick, again! That's number 6 or 7 for that gun.

BigBJBabcock,
Nice bear, it is a fun area to hunt 3 of us just returnes from hunting about 35 miles northeast of St, Michael we all took bears. One sow a little smaller than the one in your photo. One boar a little bigger a a nine foot boar.

jro45That Grizz was shot with a 300 WBY. What bullet
did you use the 180 or 200 or 220.

JBabcockMy brother shot it. He usually uses 180 grain Noslers. He has killed a number of Grizzlies with that combo. He has also used Trophy Bonded Bear Claws.
You are allowed one a year in that part of Alaska, and he takes advantage of it. I think he has killed one the last 5 years in a row.

butchlocbigb - who did you go with in that area. I spent a couple of months up there years ago with hank hankerd. The last trip was with ted nugent and red duke, both of which made the trip, shall we say interesting. I just kind of curious who has the area now. I think my last trip there was in about 1984.

BigBButchloc,
Jerry Austin Alaska Adventures, I hunted with a guide by the name of Dewey Halverson. I shot my bear on the third morning of a ten day trip. Saw 11 bears total, 1 bigger than the one I shot but could not get to him before he went into the alders and disappeared.
Jerry has a lot of bears in his area.

BigBAnn,
Thanks for posting the photos for me. This bear was taken with a 404 Jeffery 400 grain Swift A Frame.
It is quite a good time hunting these tundra grizzlies.
