RMillerRe: Cute women moving your way!
Four of my friends are teachers here and I believe they all taught in the bush for at least two years before teaching in the valley (mat-su). I know three of them did .
None of them started with a masters though.

daveinthebushThe main reason for attending the April job fair is that all the teachers that ended up in bad villages are there looking too. There are a lot of tables around and you can sit and chat with everyone and find out the good, the bad and the ugly. You can't throw out an entire school district because of one village. There are people in White Mountain that have been there for 15 years. The school is never locked and never vandalized.
It is against the Alaska Professional Teaching Practices for a district to mislead anyone with housing, pay or conditions.

ironbenderTell them purdy gals not to come without a job. Without work they will be "sourdoughs"---sour on Alaska; no dough to leave.

However, they might find something here:

lawndartTwo years in the bush, and then move to the Mat-Su area. Some very nice school facilities in the Wasilla-Palmer area.
