Blaser R 93 vs. Weatherby Mark V?

I am looking to buy a 300 Weatherby Mag rifle to use for elk and moose. My research has led me to deciding between the Blaser R 93 bolt rifle and the Weatherby bolt rifle. What input can you guys give me? How do each of them work? Which do you think is a better rifle? Which ones have you used? How do the prices compare? Any input you can give would be great!!

i have 2 weatherbys, a .300 made in w. germany and a m5 made in the u.s. stainless and synthetic in .340.

with the .340, i had a 250 yd 1 shot kill on a moose, neck shot with dramatic results. 5 shot kill on a b.&c. brown bear, all solid hits. i shoot a 3/4" 3 shot group with this gun and factory ammo. the gun is very heavy to carry in the field all day, at least 11 lbs up and ready to go. it is like having a howitzer along with you. it instills confidence. use the 250 noslers.

the .300 i killed one 300 lb. canadian whittail with it also a 1 shot kill, neck shot with 220 gr, with dramtic results.

i don't care for the blaser, what caliber what u like it to be today, rifle.

the .300 is a good choice for what u want to do , use the 200 gr. nosler.

Ever since they re-called the Blaser R 93 last year I haven't had the guts to trust them. I'll stick with Weatherby. Check out their site Blaser R 93 and see for yourself. Lawdog

for sheep and goat and everything other than big bears and moose for that matter. i use.......

a custom made .300 w.m. built around a r700 a.d.l. action skeletonized and blueprinted, 24" lothar walther barrel with slimline muzzle brake (mtn. contour), rem trigger crisp 3 lbs., 1 lb. kevlar stock w/ packmayer decelerator pad and blind magazine, all metal is stainless steel with camo teflon coating, zeiss 3.5-10x44, with sling, flip up caps, removable eagle cheek pad/ammo holder and 2 rounds in the gun weighs 7 lbs. field ready. gun shoots handloaded 180 nosler's into 1/2 m.o.a. all the way out. all animals on hit list so far have been 1 shot.

with this setup, oiling the gun is not necessary. this gun has been in the trenches and not one spot of rust yet. i do like to oil the trigger before going out and flush it with lighter fluid upon returning to prevent rust in the trigger mechanism.
