GOOD INFO: Hunting In Alaska, A Comprehensive Guide
I was at one of our local book stores the other day, and notice this book by Chris Batin, of Faribanks, Alaska - "Hunting In Alaska". (A lot of you folks may have this book already, but if you don't, I'd recommed getting it) I bought it, and I'll tell you this guy's knows how to hunt Alaska. It truly is a comprehensive guide to the who, what, where and why to hunt in Alaska.

Even Walex give it thumbs up.......He has lived around SE Alaska 50 + years. I let him have a gander at it the other day, and now he wants to read it after I'm finished.

If you plan on hunting Alaska, this is a must have guide, even Alaskans or first time hunters to Alaska will benefit from this book. IMHO

I have the book and it is a great "wish book". It was a gift from a friend in Valdez (sp).

I'll agree, good book, but a little out dated. Oh...and don't ever drop a dime into his hunting seminars either, very dry and basic...I don't consider myself a big fisherman, but I understand his fishing seminars are worth every penny.

Books, by their nature, are static and become outdated if they contain contact info, specific recommendations, etc. I have this book and several others by Batin or his wife. I can wholeheartedly recommend any of them. Chris also offers a service whereby you can call him in Fairbanks and get up to date info. I find him to be one of the most skilled all around outdoor writers in Alaska.

Maybe we should get Chris on the forum? If he isn't here now... I've known he and Adela (ex-wife) for more than 20 years and always have found him to be a wealth of knowledge. I agree though maybe there needs to be a revised edition, hunting areas have changed, seasons are all over the map as well as regulation changes.
