BushchookWorld record grizzly ?
This sounds like BS to me . Just looking for confirmation .
Got an e-mail from a mate today that said a world record grizzly had been shot (7 times with a 7mm Mag) by a forestry service worker recently .
Story went on to say the thing was 14 feet tall and weighed 1600 pounds and that it's stomach contents included remains of at least 2 humans . Attached was a graphic photo of a human corpse (hiker) with one leg ripped off and the other thigh eaten . That part was realistic I'm 95% sure .
Story went on to say that the bear was to be mounted and displayed in the airport at Anchorage to remind visitors of the danger of bears .
If 11 feet is a really big bear then 14 feet sounds like a ten million to one chance (but then I'm in Australia) .

RedlanderThis one has been making the e-mail rounds for the past several years. It's been busted more times than Marion Barry. The photos are real, but the details are not.

GibsonAs said before, most everything written in that account is embellished or just plain lies, but here are actual facts, including the photos of the bear's supposed "victims" which are real, but have nothing to do with the bear.

SnellstromBoone & Crockett has a website and a magazine called Fair Chase, excellent publication and they de-bunk various rumors, stories and trophy related internet myths. The story you speak of was in their magazine and was very well researched. Their findings were that it was a big bear, it will go in the book but not the biggest, no one was eaten, attacked or found inside the bear.

BushchookThanks . Thought it was all a bit "larger than life".
Larger than life ? Well in NJ there is a zoo that had the largest brown bear in captivity .It weighed 2000 lbs !! Enormous, the claws were the size of bananas !!
