Re: Non-resident Caribou questions
Although you would not be hunting the Mulchatna herd. I would suggest you hunt out of Kotebue. A non resident can shoot up to 5 bull carriobu.(more $$$) Aug. 28 - Sept.8. Ask to fly to a area 1000'-1500' in elevation ( harder ground much easier to walk)

Tips in saving money, you will save money and trouble by flying Alaska air all the way to Kotzebue. Look for companion fairs with your credit card company on Alaska airlines. This can save you hundreds of dollars. Buy your tickets as soon as you can, they will go up hundreds of dollars if you wait. Donate most of your meat to the locals. Split your horns, ship them us mail home.

It will cost you several hundred dollars more to hunt out of Kotzebue. But it one of the last true wilderness areas left in Alaska and well worth the additional expense.
