Where are the Brownies?
Have some friends hunting on the Penninsula and have been following the weather(the pits!). No reports from my gang. Anyone have any reports, positive or other?

I just had a client call and say he shot a nice bear in Cottonwood Bay, on a hunt I booked for him last year. He did say though, the weather was terrible the whole time!!

Here are some kodiak pictures from earlier in May. It seemed like they were coming out late. These little guys were curious but disinterested in us.

"PS. To add a bit of Pappasonian philosophy: this single barrel stuff is just a passing fad. Bolt actions and single shots will fade away as did disco, the hula hoop, and bell-bottomed pants. Doubles will rule the world!"

Aaron - Steve had told me that you sent that hunter of Jims his way I'm glad he got a good bear. Steve called me on Saterday and told me it's been terrible wind all season in Cottenwood.

It's been a cold spring and I think the bear action is just starting to pick up. A friend of mine just came in from Kodiak at 2:00 AM this morning. He got a 9'11" bear.

You got to think if a guy tells you it's 9'11" he's not streatching it any cause what would it take to strerch it one more inch. I already knew he was a straight shooter though.

For you Anch guys. When we lived in matsu a dozen years back, would fish out Ravine Lake & Long Lake east of Chickaloon. I'd always see grizz walking that road to Ravine Lake & Bonnie Lake. Two years back, we were driving into Anch, after 12 hours on the road, needed a short nap. I drove up that road, backed into a pull off; and woke up a grizz. It was only 7-8 hundred lb bear but it looked at me then walked up the road. I figure them bear are still there today. Good spot to see bear at dusk if you are driving on the highway.

Here's a nine footer that ran into a 180gr Barnes MRX over on Afognak late April. My buddy is a one-gun hunter and he absolutely flattened this boar with a straight on shot from his '06 - ruptured the aorta and traversed one lung. Bear flopped about 10yards in 10seconds and that was it.
