Trophy Bonded "TIP" bullets
Anyone know if SPEER will be manufacturing Federals new Trophy Bonded "Tip" bullets. (bullets only for reloading?)
(Not referring to TBBC's Trophy Bonded Bear Claws)

Federal is making factory loaded ammo with this bullet. Haven't seen/heard if the bullets will be available for homeloading? Nothing at Midway or Speer yet.

Any reports of shot results with the new TB "Tip" bullets yet?

Thanks,

I saw an article a few months back in one of the gun mags by Craig Boddington, he and his wife or girlfriend were using 30/06's with these bullets in Africa for a variety of game, if I recall they gave good reports on the bullets.
I too have been waiting to see the components hit the market as they sounded interesting.
Sorry I don't have more.

Thanks Snellstrom,
I'll keep my ears peeled for info. If I hear something new on them, I'll give you a shout.

I did come across some ballistics gel, test video on the FEDERAL ammo website. Moose hide gel block & cow bone penetration along with 3 other test bullets.

i set my wife up with my 300 win mag and these new bullets (they sure are impressive looking with the nickel plates also) she shot a moose this week with a subsistance permit. at 75 yds she hit it in the shoulder twice. had complete penetration with a very impressive bullet path nice size hole on both exits. so far i like it a lot. i want to see 100 gr. quarter bore for hand loading, that would be awesome!

Hey Mamba
Was that factory loaded stuff or did you find components somewhere?

Based on recent e-mails with Federal, I doubt Federal will put out (or allow) the bullets alone for re-loading anytime soon as the demand for them is so high. Federal is completely out of them in 270(the ammunition) at least as that is all I inquired about and have recently shipped their last production run to Cabela's and a few other stores with their next production run not scheduled until late summer. Makes sense for them to keep it all in house until the scales of the law of supply and demand tip back to the middle, for now demand exceeds supply and they make more $$ on the ammo than the bullet. Other calibers than the 270 WSM may be available, Midway is out of 300 WSM also.
