Bill73Dokter Red Dot sights.
I use red dot sights on most of my hunting rifles,I am wondering how they would hold upto Alaska weather?

Omnivorous_BobI've got 10 red dots on various rifles, shotguns, and machine guns right now. All are of the open emitter type like the dokter where the LED is a short distance from the glass. It a leaf or twig gets in there the dot is blocked, and a drop of water on the LED will scatter the light.
Some new sights have a sealed housing to prevent this, and one of my Fast Fires came with a simple hood with plastic windows at each end that snapped over the whole works. I'd want something like that at a minimum. I don't know if such a cover is included or available for the Dokter.
Worst case, give it a test in the rain and walking through wet brush and let us know. Good luck with your hunt!

Bill73Bob,
thanks for your input, the dokter does have a cover to turn it off,it comes off pretty quick, maybe just keep it on till you are ready to take a shot? maybe use some clesr plastic wrap?
