458WinI've been hunting and guiding for Brown Bears for over twenty five years. I have a client this spring who wounded a bear last season with her .375 and wanted to bring a larger rifle this trip. Her problem was flinching as the bear was only a hundred yards away. I finally convinced her to bring her .300 with 200 gr Trophy bonded bullets, which she does shoot well, rather than her .375 or anything larger. I know from experience that a good 200 grain 30 caliber bullet well placed will take any bear. In fact any bullet must be well placed.
If you want to use your .300 go right ahead. Bigger is better ONLY if you can shoot it as well.
Thanks, everyone, for the advice. It seems to be divided between the .300 or shoot a bigger gun. I just may do the latter for my own piece of mind.

Brent MoffittI have a feeling your Father would have taken the 458 Lott.
No question in my mind which to use.
