Did you take your bear on native land or on private land? I drew a permit 1 1/2 years ago for Afognak, but ended up not hunting the island.

sputsterCold zero, when you took the bear with the 340 Weatherby, was that factory ammo or reloaded? If reloaded, what was the load?
Recently started reloading 340 Weatherby, only shot 225gr bullets so far.

Cold Zerosputster;
that was wthby. factory ammo 250 gr. n.p..
i have no complaints with the ammo, despite the necessity of all 5 shots. bullet performance was textbook and expected. still use the n.p. to this day. when the day finally comes that something i hit with a n.p. gets away. i may switch to something else, like a swift a frame, barnes xlc, never a trophy bonded bear claw though. wthby factory ammo is really good for factory ammo.
good luck.
