Which Brand of Hip Boots???
I am going on a Black Bear hunt this Spring in SE Alaska. It is a boat hunt. The outfitter reccomends that I bring a pair of hip boots. Can anyone give me an idea as to whick brand and type I should purchase?

Thanks

Please don't take offense Fred, but ever time I see a question like this I wonder why you haven't asked the guide/outfitter you're hunting with. To me it seems like a no-brainer.

Good luck on your hunt.

...X3 ..If he says you need hip boots it,s probably for crossing criks ........For a spring hunt I probably not go with insulated , but you should get 2 pair of felt insoles ,unless you need orthotics , in which case use them ... But the felt in sole makes rubber boots about a hundred times more comfortable to wear....

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Thanks for the help everyone. Looks like the LaCrosse gets the nod.

This question is off post and I hope you don't mind.

I'm considering a boat trip too and would like to know how you picked the Parkers?

Thanks

I did a DIY black bear hunt last year and used Cabela's ankle fit waders. I didn't have any problems but make sure you buy a repair kit just in case. You will be in and out of water a lot and I can't imagine how miserable I would have been if my feet had been wet most of the time. Since you will be walking in these boots a lot make sure they fit your foot well.

Cabela's Bog Busters -- I have used these on several AK hunts and they have held up very well-- the plus is that they are quiet.
