Brother DaveHow was your April?
Mine wasn't too bad....

DavidAK: Those are some big old black bears. Who is shooting the Wby and in what caliber? Nice photographs. Were you in Prince William Sound? Give us some details on the hunt and the beasts...how many bears did you see? Those look like really good black bears.
Congratulations.

Brother DaveThe weatherby belonged to a guy from Tx. It's a .338-378. It was responsible for two out of the 5 bears we got. Others were shot with .30-378 and .338RUM.
I don't know how many bears we saw, too many to keep track of over the 6 week period we were out and about.
We drew a blank on a couple of bow stalks, they were monster bears...
None of the skulls broke 21 inches, but several were very close. The biggest bear squared out a bit over 7ft, and some of the others were in the 6.5-7ft range. All had good hides.
The steelies were icing on the cake...

And by the way, my April, and May, was and is great...lots of brown bears and at least one nice chunky king salmon. It is a good year already..

Brother DaveYes, congrats on your bear...well done. I hit the beaches a touch too early for browns.
Not a bad way to start the year, eh?
dave
Absolutely...keep up the good work...your muskox was stunning. I want to try that hunt.

Dave,
I think I'm going to miss another brown bear season too. Took the family out camping last weekend, and now I need to pull the lil'boat out of the slip tomorrow since I'm heading out of town. Maybe I can take a quick run around locally and spot one. In fact, that's going to be the plan.

Where does the time go?...
Brian
Gent's,
Dave and I spent some of April together, and I thought I'd add some more pictures...

Cool pix, man.
Wow,
I haven't been over here in a while and I get to relive the glory this afternoon. Nice to trip over this. Thanks guys!

RobinBMine wasn't quite as successful!
Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac? He stayed up all night wondering if there's a dog.

Robin,
That's great!

Heck, we screwed up messing around the cabin, and that how my boat (the drop bow above) got stranded for a tide cycle...
But your's is priceless.

A lil'slack on that bow line might have helped eh?

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.
