Cold ZeroThe Unsolved Mystery of a Missing Cinder River Lodge Guide
I came across this story from Sept. 2004 that seems very intriguing. I was wondering if anyone on here knew Bart Schleyer or is familiar with this story and has an opinion on what really happened to him. The famed Cinder River Lodge lost a good guide, RIP.

craneThe prevailing opinion at the time was that he got eaten.

Alaskan SourdoughCause of death.....I have zero idea. As for consumption of the body, I'll vote "Wolves". They can eat 25 pounds of flesh in one setting. But more compelling is that only part of skull was recovered. Recovered bear mauling victims the skull and spine are generally intact, often including the pelvis. Ten or twelve wolves could be a normal pack size.

waterratBart was indeed a great guide and fellow! He was moose hunting and was probably calling (he was very good) and as his bow was hanging up next to kill area it was assumed a bear came barrelling in on him. They didn't find anything until snowtime and found the tracks of all animals visiting the site. Maybe wolves got him too? Bart was a wildlife biologist and had spent years in Russia live trapping and studying Siberian Tigers. He had a family in Russia and his stories were epic after he got lubed up!
