Well, I'm waiting to hear from you.
Who is the oldest brown bear hunter out there, still actively hunting brownies?

Okay I'll bite, I'm 44 years old and not done hunting them yet. I have an acquaintance who is a guide and is in his late 60s or early 70s. He still pursues both Browns and sheep. I hope I have half the energy he does when I'm his age. He's a cross country skiing MACHINE in the winter! I wouldn't post his name on this forum without his permission.

Hmm now you guys have me wondering who your talking about.
If he worked Iliamna I should know him but sometimes paths don't cross.
Case in point although I've heared your named mentioned for years Waterrat we still haven't met. Anyway you will be glad to know that the camp Jim always had me in on the spring hunts is the one named after you.

I'm fifty and althought I guided my first Brown bear hunt almost 31 years ago I feel I still have a few left in me. ( quite a few)

I am only 61 and certainly don't plan on quitting any time soon.

We had a guide in Southeast that has since passed but he hunted into his late eighties and was on the boat even into his ninties. Hunting Browns in Southeast is easy compared to some places but still . He was the mentor for almost all the guides in the Sitka area including myself. .

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.
