Brown bear area input.
Hunted Kodiak with Mileur in 2014. Killed a great bear. Gettin the itch to maybe go again. My question is, Would the Peninsula offer a vastly different experience, bigger bodied bear etc....?

Yes. And No. that is unless you shoot a bigger bodied bear. Two different places for sure. One does not hold bigger bears than the other. As I said in AOD, fall peninsula will be very different than spring Kodiak. Talk to Phil. The rest
Of us can share opinions but I believe
Phil will have a solid handle on peninsula bear information. And I don’t think he’d lead ya wrong even if you don’t book with him.

Scott, in answer to your question if the peninsula offers a different type of bear hunting experience I would saw yes. Predominantly due to the peninsula being much more open country. Overall you will see more bears every day on the peninsula even though bear densities may be similar in the best areas. So are bear sizes, although biologically the peninsula bears are credited with having a slight, but not necessarily statistically significant, larger body size. While the bears on Kodiak have the potential for a slightly wider skull with less length, again not by a statistically significant amount.

There a plenty of other important factors involved like : whether it's a spring or fall hunt , whether you are hunting the best exclusive Federal guide areas or state lands, and the choice of your guide.

A Peninsula Bear Or 2,it's really six of one or half a dozen type decision. Some hunters get a big bear on the 1st day of their hunts and others come back many times to get a dream bear!
