Elkins45Now I understand the hatred for the LOP on the Zastava stocks
I didn't understand why so many people had commented on the excessive LOP on the Zastava stocks...it was very comfortable when I was sighting it in...in a T shirt.
Fast forward to this morning when I'm in s tree stand and it's 28 degrees. I was wearing two sweatshirts and a heavy hunting jacket. I heard footsteps and saw a buck approaching. I went to mount the rifle to my shoulder and slipped my gloved finger into the trigger guard. That's when I discovered the problem. With the extra clothes I could barely reach the trigger and still mount the rifle to my shoulder, and when I did my thumb could barely reach the safety to disengage it.
As it turns out the buck was a little four pointer and I let it walk, but I now know why everybody hates these stocks so much. Im going to take my trusty Tikka back to the woods this afternoon until I can break out the saw to shorten this thing.
Any tips on how to saw off a buttstock and keep it square would really be appreciated !

What is your regular LOP on your other rifles?
the tikka are on the short way (i had a 690). ruger mkII or Hawkeye are really a little short. CZ (i dont have any left actions are close to be perfect ...) and Zastava fits me ... but im 6'5" ...
maybe too the gloves thing : there is maybe another kind that will work better for you, especially if you have a long LOP.
all the best.
