E.R Shaw Mark VII rifles

Gentlemen...

Anyone have experience with these rifles? Basically an E.R. Shaw barrel mated to a Savage action with a couple of metal choices, four barrel options, 3 stock options and dozens of caliber choices... reasonably priced too.

I priced a laminate stock, sporter weight (#2.5 contour I think) barrel in chrome moly, and a chrome moly LH action chambered to 260 Remington and the sell price was $750.00.

Any input experience is appreciated.

I can’t comment on the Shaw rifle however I am glad they are supporting the LH shooters and expect they will deliver a decent product for the price. I would also check with Savage directly on a custom build. Savage has a custom shop and will build anything you want….and the prices are going to be very comparable to what you listed above or even less. They will produce custom calibers and barrel/twist/length/contour combinations. I am hoping they will offer the new Bench Rest rifle in a Left Bolt, Right Port option soon. It would make a nice Varmint rig and not break the bank! For a factory Varmint rifle, IMO the price/accuracy combination you get from a savage is an incredible bargain!

Totally agree with Roscoe's comments. Also, I recently purchased a Savage ss with the tupperware stock with a fairly light weight barrel. This rifle will shoot under 1/2 inch with only the second load I have tried.

Personally I think you should just stay with a stock Savage. There barrels are capable of extreme accuracy.
