Someone asked me awhile back to weigh the McMillan stock I had on order once it came in so instead of searching the threads I started this.

The laminate stock as it came from the factory weighs 38 ounces. The McMillan weighs in at just shy of 41 ounces with the 1 inch deceralator pad. The McMillan seems to balance a little better and has more weight on the forearm. Fit is finish is pretty good but not perfect. Right side of the barrel channel needs some sanding so both sides are free floated. The middle floor plate screw holes needs to be enlarged just a tiny bit in the back so the screw will not touch and the trigger guard goes back far enough to allow a perfect fit of the floor plate. 10 minutes with a round file and some sand paper should fit it.
It took 4 months for the stock to be finished compared to McMillans usual 6 month wait. I guess the economy is affecting everything.

Kinda surprised that the laminate is lighter. Not that weight is everything on a 375.

Should be more pleasant to shoot now that it has a decent pad on it.....

Follow up. After sanding the right side of the barrel channel the barrel finally became free floated. But now the gap on the left was god awful looking. I emailed McMillan telling them of the problems and they told me to ship the barreled action and stock back to them so they could fix it. Even better was they told me they would reimburse me the shipping charges down to them. This is first rate service.

McMillian is great to work with, when I was hunting on the AK peninsula some years ago the guide accidently broke my stock it was his neglect but McMillian paid shipping costs and had the stock back to me in two weeks. I have four McMillian stocks on rifles and love-em.

Glad they are standing behind their product for you. IMO the stocks should be pretty close to flawless for the what they cost, obviously they feel the same way. Still, it is good to hear of old fashioned service once and a while.

That puts McMillan at the top of my list (as if they weren't already) for a few up coming stocks.

Rifle was received back yesterday. Not sure if they replaced the stock or what but I would say the barrel is now almost perfectly centered in the channel and is free floated back to the shank.
Am very pleased with there work and how they handled this. Yes, they are a pricey stock but they are worth every penny. I'll never consider another brand at this point in time.

+1 to McMillian. I own a few and most recently had a HTG ADJ made up for a 338RUM. Fit/finish was perfect. Balance is excelelnt. This was the first non-tactical stock they have done for me.

Great service and yes, they are much slower than normal right now.

I was a little disapointed on the cost and workmanship with Mcmillon. I sent my stock in to reinlet for a MRC bottom metal and touch up the paint. $150 Seemed high for the quality of work. IMHO If I would have known it was going to be that high would have done it myself.
