I read the entire AR thread a few pages back. I'm curious about a few things:
Everyone seems to be fond of Stag Arms from my research, but I haven't asked here. I ask this in light of that AR thread is a bit old and was wondering if anyone's opinions had changed or there were some new voices.
From my limited understanding, the lefty from Stag is just a left upper but not lower? And that I could get ambi charge and ambi mag release? And if the lower isn't LH, why not just build a rifle for cheaper than just ordering the LH from Stag?

SnowwolfeNot sure what parts are designed for a lefty or righty.
All I know is I love the brass being ejected out the left side.
Very happy with my Stag lefty.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

FjoldIIRC, the upper receiver and bolt are left handed, the rest of the parts are the same as the righties.
They're just fun to own and I like to support companies that make left handed products.

Ken ClineYou would still have to buy the complete Stag upper to make a lefty, because they are the ONLY company that makes it in lefty. So, you might save a very slight amount by getting another lower, but not much point.
The Stag trigger, like every other AR trigger, is crap, if you are looking for accuracy. I put a JP Enterprises trigger on mine, and now it's a crisp 3 pounds.
There really isn't any need to go to a piston version over the standard gas version. They both work equally as well. Only advantage is the bolt stays cooler on a piston gun.
Mine started as a 2L, then I made it a 2TL by adding the free floating Samson rail system.

DPMS used to make lefties.
STAG, White Oak Armament and Noveske till make left handed uppers.

Nanook 450I bought a LH Stag carbine, had some tigger work done and love it.
Love it so much I bought a 6.8 Hunter, with a Leupold AR scope - that trigger is a great trigger and its now my go to coyote/hog/varmit rifle.
Stag has a lifetime warranty and makes a fine rifle.
It they come out with a .308 LH rifle, I'll own one of those also.
Get it.

Cliff LyleI've had similar questions and I'm glad to see others are giving the LH version good marks. I have a lower but need to go look at Stag's website for an upper.

sam308Had my Stag rifle for a little over 3 years now. I believe it is as good of a product as you will find without getting into the really high-end stuff. I did change out the factory trigger and put in a Chip McCormick unit. The trigger upgrade is a must in most factory ARs.
No problems at all with the Stag. I think the only difference in the lower is that it has an ambi safety but a lot of lowers come with those now.
