PNWHunterPrice check...Good deal or not?
I found a rifle for sale locally. According to the owner, it's a post 64 CRF M70 Super Express in 375 H&H (lefty). Less than 50 rounds, excellent condition. He's selling it for $850. I know I've seen lefty M70 375's selling for a lot more, but I really don't know much about Winchesters in general.

GeorgeSThat's a fair price. They are not making these right now, so if you want one, either as a .375H&H or as a basis for a larger round, haggle him down as much as you can and buy it.

PNWHunterCool, thanks for the info. I'm thinking about buying it and shooting it until I get my Heym restocked, then having it rebored or rebarreled to either 470 Capstick, 458 Lott, or 300 H&H.

GeorgeSI doubt you'll lose money on it.

SnowwolfeGreat rifle for a good price but still suggest you look around and take your time.
After owning a Win 70 375 and pretty much every other lefty 375 made outside of a Browning would suggest you try to set your hands on a CZ lefty 550 375. The CZ has a 3 leaf iron sight set up and will hold five down as well as having built in scope bases on the receiver. Also has dual cross bolts in the stock as well as dual recoil lugs.
I am 5'10 and the CZ simply fits me. Nice recoil pad and the shape and size of the stock as well as the weight of the rifle makes the recoil a non issue. Found mine online at Gunsamerica for $999. Most guys do not like the stock set trigger on the CZ but I find it to my liking when shooting off the bench.
Second choice for a 375 for be the Ruger Alaskan or African. The African can be found for $700 if you shop around.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

FjoldSnow,
$900 for the LH CZ? That was a steal. I haven't ever seen one listed for much less than the $1800 MSRP.

SnowwolfeActually it was $999, lol. But still under a grand!
Another lefty posted a link in the Big Bore forum about the rifle being sold by First Stop Guns on Gunsamerica. By the time I read the thread it was a couple of days old. Sent Mark an email and no one had yet claimed it so I bought it. Possibly one of my better online buys for sure. Still have no idea why someone else didnt grab it immediately but it is one of the rifles that I will never sell. It was new in box and even the wood is pretty nice. First Stop Guns had a lefty Ruger African NIB for $699 if you are interested:

I've looked at the CZ's before, but I've never seen them listed for under $1800. I saw one a few months back listed for about a thousand, but it had already sold. For a thousand I'd probably jump on it, but for $1800 there's other options available.
I looked at the Rugers, and almost ordered one. I ended buying a lefty Heym in H&H, which split the stock after about two and a half boxes. If I bought this M70, eventually it would be rechambered. Right now I've got ten boxes of Hornady H&H ammo staring at me, and nothing to shoot it through.
For the price, if I decided that the stock didn't fit me or I didn't like it for some reason I could probably sell it and break even.
I think if I can get the money together I'll buy it.

Wow, that is $150 less than my local shop quoted me three months ago (and they would have charged additional shipping). For that price, I could have got that Ruger
and the Winchester for slightly more than I paid for my Heym.
