Did Remington (or anybody else for that matter) ever build a LH 20 ga 1100 or 11-87? Is there any current 20 gauge autoloader that is leftie friendly, i.e., ejects to the bottom?

Yes, Remington did build a LH 1100 in 20 gauge. I know there are some Benelli 20 gauge offerings and I think Remington still builds an 1187 in 20ga. LH. Other than that, I use a 20 gauge Browning BPS with great success. it ejects shells out the bottom.

AZPete, thanks for the link but the only thing they are currently listing is a 12 ga LH 11-87. My son already has one of those (he's a leftie) and we are looking for a left-handed 20 ga semi-auto for his wife.

Haven't been able to find any LH 20's on the usual on-line gun auction sights. If anybody spots one, please let me know.

I saw that last night. I'd like to see some photos of a $1250 Remington 1100. He doesn't elaborate much in the description but hopefully it's a skeet grade/special one.

I like 1100's but to me they are more like a $500 deal. But then maybe it's because they are scarce!

The price kind of left me short of breath too. I just got a Citori Super Lightning for $50 less. I do hope that you find what you are looking for, Remington seems to build LH items on a whimsical schedule. In the early 90's they made a run of short action 700's then quit for several years. Prices reflected the scarcity.

I would keep my eyes peeled for a used 20 ga. O/U, as an alternative. Saw a very nice SKB for $700 about 4 months ago. Fixed chokes, but a very nice shotgun that would last a lifetime.

I've been battling shooting left handed all my life. The vast majority of guns are right handed in at least some way, whether it's the action, or the cast of the stock, or the safety. I've had a left hand Rem 1100, and shoot a customized Benelli Montefeltro, but 20s are very limited. Rem did make a left handed 20 1100, and sellers charge a premiun for them now. There was just one on www.gunsamerica.com listed for $1195 for example.

If I recall correctly, the Benelli had/has a particularly short barrel, which made it unappealing to me. I'm of the at least "28 crowd, having learned about short barreled shotguns the hard way over the years. A possible exception might be a European metric example with 27 1/2" ones.

My left handed shooting partner just built a bending fixture. He's a cabinet maker and we have shaved stocks sucessfully and refinished them, and now we have bent a few doubles. We have had to do them all more than once because they spring back, but no damage yet, except to polyurethane finishes, and that doesn't count because we just refinish in an oil finish then. We think we have found the best solution yet ! For someone who can afford it, the double of your choice bent to allow a little cast on may be the best solution...Tom
