powder burns
As a kid, (and once or twice a year now) I would blast through the whole tube on a 22 semi auto. A wrong handed one of course. I knew I was doing it right when my face started searing and I swore I had burned permanent pits in my face. The worst one was an old full stock Mossberg, but man I could shoot the balls off a charging a rhino at 50 yards with that thing. Here's to feeling the burn!

All my autoloading .22s are right-side ejecting, and I've never had one spit powder back into my face.

Could you have been holding it improperly?

Wha? Yeah I've shot a few different ones. The worst was that Mossberg 151 but I loved it.

My old 552 Speedmaster used to spit hot debris onto my right forearm every time I shot it.

You mean the hot debris like a semi-auto pistol --fired by a new young lady with top of blouse unbuttoned and catching hot brass ??
A well mannered man will turn away , cover his mouth to stifle his laugh !! dancing

If you were truly a gentleman you would have offered to kiss her burns to make you, oops, I meant her feel better.
