Vol717I've bought out two distributors of this model now and they're all sold except mine. They are a pretty neat gun with great irons, an indestructible stock and all stainless for $250 less than the LH African with a walnut stock. The Ruger sale rep says that they were not a distributor special, but rather a mid-year standard production item and that Ruger has no plans to produce more of them. I suspect someone inside Ruger wanted some and had enough influence to see that these were made. I have a line on one other distributor that may have some if anyone else wants one.

Vol717I finally talked to to local Ruger rep. He told me that Ruger originally started making this configuration in left hand and then stopped and started making the left hand African version. He didn't elaborate, but I got the impression that someone in the right position wanted this configuration and had the influence to make it happen. There are no plans to make any more. I have sold all I have and thought this was the last of them, but I found the last three that I know of today at Ellett Brothers. One of these is promised. If any one else here wants one at $850 let me know; otherwise I'm going to list it on Gunbroker and keep the final one as a backup for my own. Did you see the one on Gunbroker at $1100?

SnowwolfeMine already made 3 trips to the range. Just working with light loads to improve my off hand shooting but I love this rifle!
It is such a fast handling piece. My right handed son now wants the RH version.
The only thing I did to mine was to lap in the action with some 600-800 grit polishing compound for about 20 minutes.
The iron sights are great and the trigger is even pretty good. I did order a McMillan stock for it but that will take about 5 months. These rifles have to be one of the best buys of the year for us lefties.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Vol717I just found out that there were over 20 of these guns still at Ruger last month but they're all gone now. That's the end of a fine production run, and one we lefties surely needed. Now let's see what the price goes to. I'm holding on to mine.

tractorredThe last one I found was on or about 5/6/09. I have not looked since then but may have a look next week.
I don't think you'll find any more of them. They're gone from both Ruger and the distributors.

GunsCoreI took mine to the range yesterday and from the bench with Safari Arms 270 Barnes TS's using a Leupold VXIII 1.75-6 I consistently got a golf ball size pattern at 100 yards. I haven't modified the rifle. It is completely stock.
STAY IN THE FIGHT!
My rifle groups and inch to 1-1/2 inches for three shots at 50 yards with irons and about the same at 100 with a scope, all plain old Sierra 270-grain cup and core bullets over IMR 4831, not a maximum load. I've shot at longer ranges up to 250 yards, but not for groups. I haven't done anything to my gun either.

scruffyMy goodness ...

I just saw an advertisment for that very rifle up here in Canada. I phoned this morning and the guy (Prophet River Outfitters out of Lloydminster, Alberta had 5 !!!!) And all were sold yesterday when the advertisment came out on Access to Firearms .. a gun newspaper out of Whitehorse. He had 3 more coming !!!! So about September tenth I shall have one of these rifles too ..

A match, I reckon for my African 375 Ruger ...

GunsCoreI have one and it is an outstanding rifle and cartridge. Very handy and accurate. I just wish the ammo had the same availability as the H&H.
