Ken Cline2014 new lefties?
Any rumors or news? Doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

mlfgunsNothing yet, but the SHOT show will be january 14-17, 2014. That's when the official news will be out. I hope some companies under wise leadership, have the foresight to capture a segment of the left hand market, by offering new and innovative products. It could yield dollars that can make the difference in profits and expansion.
The real question is what we would like to see built.

Jim in IdahoI'd love to see Winchester (BACO) finally produce some more LH Model 70's in the regular old lineup - .270, .30-06, 7mm RM etc., if for no other reason than to have an alternative to the $1000+ prices they are going for on the auction sites.
A LH short action true Featherweight in .243 or .308 would be real icing on the cake.

JasonAusI have it on good authority that Sako are releasing their magnum action version of the hunter blued walnut in left hand at the shot show this year.

wont happen and it s a same they didnt take the LH toolings when they left the factory. it was by Winchester rep really while ago.
tried to ask every year and got all the same answer no ... a shame.

Me neither. If I get the urge for a different caliber will just buy another barrel for my Blaser R8.

Greg KI'd buy a LH Featherweight in 7x57 or maybe 257 Roberts. Might even trade in my LH 270WSM on it.

skl1I'd also buy a LH Winchester Featherweight in a "medium" caliber. If a long action, then a .270; if a short action, a .308.

SnowwolfeHe thought he needed all these big bore CRF rifles when living in Alaska but now realized living in Colorado for the time being but retiring in Tennessee he could get rid of a dozen different rifles and go with the R8 system instead
. Still considering if I should sell my Ruger Alaskan 375.
Barrels might be pricey but they sure take up a lot less room in the safe and the R8 is much easier to carry broken down.
No tinkering, no trigger work, no bedding problems, they flat out shoot. And if I am really pressed for space when traveling all I need to do is buy a right hand bolt for my wife and son. They even fit in a box on the rack of an atv.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

mlfgunsI recently contacted a new company named Richardson & Roberts out of Springfield, Vermont. Contact person is Matthew Roberts Phone # (802) 384-0599 that is building custom actions from billeted machined steel. Basically a Winchester model 70 clone, with or without square bridges, with customer specified options. Straight handle as a Mauser 98 or swept back like the win. 70. etc.. etc.... The actions are built to the caliber size and not a one size fit for all as in the past. Caliber fit for varmints up to Elephants. Every model they make is offered in left hand. The action is around the $2,200 mark give or take. I personally love the idea of not having to buy a complete rifle and discard all components just for the action.

Might be very nice actions but it is much easier just to go to MRC and buy one of their actions for just slightly more than 1/3rd the price and they are basically a Win 70 clone as well.
I would never go the custom route again unless the builder agreed to deliver the action by a certain date and agreed to a penalty clause if the failed.
McMillan also makes a stock that will fit the the MRC actions.

J_ZolaThis page has the sizes. I am thinking about calling them but will visit before handing over cash. Looks a like a hour ride from lake george. I may make a trip during this years vacation.
