Alan WNot for certain but years ago I do know they bought blanks pre formed off of copier lathes. The outer shape was all done save a finish. I've made numerous fixtures for their inletting routers that allowed top and bottom inletting in one set up. Back then they purchased from Rutland Plywood. Where the outer shape work was done in not known by me.
Savage also buys from Rutland and ships the material to Spain and back to get all the countouring done -- complete. (And very inexpensively!)

Vol717I don't know where they were made but I got the impression that it was in house. The reason the left hand guns were made is that they made a mistake and turned about 100 stocks with too large a barrel channel for the standard LH Hawkeye. The Alaskan barrel fit the contour and they had all the other parts to make up the guns.

GunsCoreI have one of the 375 Lefty Stainless models and the laminate stock cracked after about 60 rounds went through it. It was poorly fitted. I am having it replaced with a McMillan.

kk alaskaI glass bedded my LH Laminate 375Ruger after talking to Ruger, they said they would replace it if it broke if it was not modified. Asked Ruger to check to see if they had any replacments they said no. I like the stock and went ahead and bedded it, did not want to chance it breaking, that little recoil lug and angled bolt seems to break a lot of stocks in heavy caliber Rugers.
