Montana Rifle company closing
I do not know if anyone else has read this but Montana Rifle in Kallispell is closing. I guess Remington bought the company and is now closing it. I do not know about anyone else but we have lost a very good left hand rifle to the hand of "BIG GREEN". I am apauld that Remington closes a fine business, hopefully not because of competition, because you can get a Montana Rifle for about the same price as a BDL. I would say the montana 1999 is a better left than the BDL. I feel sorry for the craftsmen that lost their job. Until i know more the big green is off my purchase list.

I think one would still be able to get the lefty Winchester 70 compatible actions. To me, that's all I care about.

It's a shame that a left hand Model 70 type rifle actions will be no longer available....I wouldn't own one my self because Cerebus Capital Management, L.P. owns them and I will not own any products from companies they own.

The article says that Remington is moving the company to Alabama to consolidate manufacturing. It doesn't say that the rifle/action line is dead.

We understand the strategic move for them to have the barrel-making facility in their facility where all the rifles are being made, it makes sense for them and we understand that," said Sipe.

We understand the strategic move for them to have the barrel-making facility in their facility where all the rifles are being made, it makes sense for them and we understand that," said Sipe.

And they understand this industry -- Brian Sipe has been in it for more than 15 years when he started Montana Rifle Company back in 1999.

Workers manufacture and assemble rifles for big game hunting.

Now the idea is to hire some of the Montana Rifleman workers and keep the manufacturing line moving.

"The relationships are still there. The friendships are still there so we're, you know, we were happy to see certain people move up...it was a big family atmosphere and so that still hasn't changed," Sipe said.

Sipe says his company currently has around 22 employees, but with the growth they're experiencing, he believes he could double his staff and then some in the near future.

It appears to be two companies. Montana rifleman and Montana rifle. Only the barrel company once own by the father is moving. The action company is staying and may hire the barrel companies employees. Or I am completely confused and I have it all wrong.

Good, maybe Jeff can hire some of them, and ramp up production a little...

What are their 505 Gibbs barrels like? I have an action not barreled yet.

Cheers, Chris

The barrel company has been owned by Remington for some time. Montana rifle company has been using their barrels on complete guns. Maybe now they'll use other brands. The rifle company is very much still in business.
