Heres mine, I have a LH MRC .416 Rem. Mag to arrive from the 'smith next week. I'm in the process of thinking/starting a couple other projects aswell, one in .358 Norma, the other in .375 H+H

The one on the far left here is a 788 (308 Win) that I bought new in 1975

As far as a left-hand bolt with right ejection, I took a Savage Striker and made it into a rifle to have that capability while varminting. The rifle has two barrels, one in .22BR and the other in .243...although that may become a 6-284. Don't have a digital camera, still using film.

It took a little longer than it was supposed too (Import probs), but here it is, cant wait to shoot 'er

Its a LH MRC Stainless Barelled action, 22" bbl. chambered in .416 Rem. Mag. I got them too bead blast to a dull, dull finish (The camera flash really makes it look shinier than it is). I got a Bansner "Hi-Tech" Win Mod 70 stock, that is floated and pillar bedded, Limbsaver on the back,NECG "Express sights", NECG bbl. Band swivel. I also ordered Talley "QD" rings and bases. All the sights, rings etc. were powder coated black or silver. They also installed a Mercury recoil Suppressor in the stock. Right now I mounted a Leupold Vari XIII 1.5-5 w/ heavy Duplex. I may put a Sliver Leupold 2-7X on it. The rifle field ready weighs in at about 8.75 lbs.

Just what the Doctor ordered for smashin' Coastal Brownies, and a couple Dugga Boys!!
and the odd Coyote, and Gopher, and whatever else happens to end up in the sights!

Benelli SBE II - 12g

In addition, I have many that are LH friendly such as Marlin lever actions, Ruger #1, Savage M99, etc.

I'm always buying lefties and I'd look at an ambidextrous gun but it would depend upon how it's done.

Having two bolt cutouts in the stock would probably look pretty bad.

There is an ambidextrous rifle - the Musgrave .22Lr Ambidex. I am left handed but I do not own one of these. Aman at our rifle club has one. It has a very pale - blonde stock - non stained beech?

The way it 'works', if I remember correctly, you turn the bolt over / upside down and slide it into the receiver. In operation, it reminds me of one of those lovely Browning T Bolts - remember those in left hand?

That's interesting, I've never even heard of a Musgrave. I'd love to see a picture of it.

Yup, I love it to bits..... it hold 3 in the mag plus the chambered round. you can't see it in the pics but it also has a red fibre optic foresight which is unbelievable.... the rifle comes up and gets on target like a dream....and I've never known a faster handling firearm. although, I have to say, I get embarrassed every time I take it back to the builders for anything. simon the stocker always comes out to take a look and each time he sees it, he looks like he's gonna cry! I can almost hear him thinking, what has that bastard done to my beautiful rifle...... ah well, they're made to work. - every year I think I'll get some engraving done on it.... not much, just maybe my name on the floorplate and perhaps the eye from a US$1 bill just behind the rearsight, but I never seem to have the time between safaris to get it done.....
The rifle also has a bare patch on the barrel where I carry it but I don't care.... it just wouldn't look right all shiny and blue. There's also a hinged cover on the bottom of the wrist of the rifle (whatever the technical term is) which holds a spare foresight, a few hairs from the first Lion the rifle took and a tail hair from the first elephant the rifle took...... I know it's dumb, but I consider it good luck to keep them there.......

We've had some close shots over the years but a couple of weeks ago we had our closest yet...... shot a Buff (with a client) at 4, yes 4 yards....... the grass was 7 or 8 feet high and we were parting it with our barrels as we crept along....... Jeez it was exciting.

Were M70 stainless rifles available in LH from the factory as a regular run? I've heard of them, and now have seen one, but info is very scarce. I'd like to have one to make into a .416 Taylor or maybe .404 Dakota.

i believe they were made as a normal production runs as winchester saw fit. i bought one in stainless steel/ walnut with a boss several years ago. i didn't need it and i dislike the boss system, but a distributor was getting rid of them and it was less than three hundred dollars.

I bought my LH Model 70 Stainless Classic the first and only year they were available with a walnut stock. After that they came with plastic. I still have the wood stock but replaced it with the McMillen so it wouldn't get all beat up.
I also got in on the only year Browning made a LH Stainless Stalker in a short action (Mine is a 7mm-08) I spoke with Browning and they told me it was one of the shortest runs they've ever made and the one I have was 1 of 20.

They can be found but expect to pay a lot of $$ for them. Last one I saw on one of the auctions sights went for almost $1800. I have two of them...in 300WM and 7MM Mag. They are great looking rifles with the stainless metal and wood stock. I plan on building something with them some day.

Good eye. I was afraid someone was going to ask about this. I cannot squeeze the trigger with my finger so I put my finger in the trigger guard and wedge it back against the guard and trigger. If I build up the guard with cloth tape and put a trigger shoe on then it makes for little effort to trip the trigger. I shoot benchrest this way and do respectably well. Here is another picture that shows me in the middle.
