Himalayan Ibex Hunt
Himalayan Ibex Hunt
Hello
I hunted the Himalayan Ibex last year in the Hindukush Mountains of Pakistan. The hunt was in Jan. 2004 and was outfitted by Mr. Asif Khan of
Himalaya Nature Tours, more information can be found on the following site
http://www.trophyhunting-pk.info/INDEX1.HTMAsif Khan was an excellent outfitter. I flew to Islamabad and the outfitter drove me to Gilgit, we spent the night in Gilgit in a very good hotel and the next morning drove to Hunza and onwards to the Chinese border.
The animal population was good the guides were excellent. The area is very safe.
Regards
Aziz
I edited the photos and hosted them on my Photobucket account, should be faster to download. Terry24 July 2005, 07:04

ErikDAziz,
I have just looked thru your pictures, and read your posts, and am very impressed with your mountain hunting. I have not hunted sheep yet, as I have consentrated on Africa, and hunting at home here in Norway, but have always had these various sheep in the back of my mind. Your posts have now really triggered my need to go sheep hunting! Thanks for all the great pictures, and I hope to see even more of them from you!

HarrisAziz,
I love your reports about these exotic hunts and wish you would post more stories and pictures of your adventures.
For some reason I can't see the photo of the Ibex and on your second posting I can only see half of a picture.
The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

8MM OR MOREAziz, I first saw pictues of these over fourty years ago, and they still stir me with wanting one, one of the few animals that does that for me. Thank you for your posting of pix and account!!!
Sacred cows make the best burgers.
Good Shooting!

AzizLorenzo I used a 7mm Mag for this hunt but I mostly us a 7mm STW. A 150 grain bullet works very well for me.
8MM you should plan and get one in Pakistan, the hunting area is very safe.

Aziz, that was in my plans about twenty years ago, I believe I have missed the "window of opportunity" due to medical reality. They still call for me to go, however!!
Thanx again, for the picture and report!!

I hunted with an excellent local outfitter, I will dig up his e-mail and post it, you should be able to hunt for less than what others are charging for the hunt in Pakistan.

Max M.If you dont mind, I would like to know the entire cost of a trip like that including tags, guides, planes ect. Thanks
31 December 2005, 05:11
AzizMaxM
The hunt is $6000-6500.This includes the tag, all travel inside Pakistan. The airfare from Los Angeles to Islamabad is $1800. It is less if you are in New York

ibexxthe best place is called KVO,khungrab village orginaization, its after the customs check post namely sust, and the best man for there is jalal,he is retierd and an old man but he is genious, and helped hunters getting 100s of good trophies the man is legend and his house is the best heated with excellent food facilities,my friend got one 55 incher monster with him 4 years ago,why is the place good because u can shoot the animal on plane ground near river where all the big males come for rut,i shot one 48 incher where u shot urs aziz that place is khyber village but there u have to climb or wait for the heavy show fall, but the animal is not very big,i tried to post my pics but dont know how to post here, thankx

PostDriverIbexx,
What would be the best time of year to hunt the KVO area during the rut?
31 December 2005, 21:56
AzizPostDriver
Ibexx is right about the area, the best time to hunt is Mid December through Mid Jan, but Ibexx may more information to add.
Ibexx it is good to hear from you again.
Regards
Aziz

ibexxpost driver.the best time to go there is after 25th of december and stay at gilgit in a fine five star type hotle and b inconnection with the guid on phone soon as they see the movement he will call then drive to sust border which will b around 4 hours max drive from gilgit, why?,cause the place where u will b staying if u r not staying with jalal the main guid, then u will b staying in single room with no heating except the camp fire and its not enough, and that is by the river right on the road facing the big mountain which is the main khungrab national park where one cannot hunt ,those ibex comes from national park ,so if u need any other help im here, thankx.and aziz nice to see u again
