I just got home from a cow hunt on Lobo Ranch, free range that Jim listed here on AR.
The lodge is very nice and the food was good and more than necessary.
If it's offered again next year I am planning on jumping on it.
The wife really enjoyed it as well.
I got a big dry cow, just what I wanted for eating and must say it is proving to be very good on the table before fully aged.
The meat was well taken care of and chilled out quickly.
The only problem was the bullets. I used a 7 STW with 160 gr. Nosler Accubonds and it peeled back and shed the core. One cannot say the bullet failed as it was a one shot kill, dead is dead. Shot was about 100 yds, through shoulders, one broken, one not so, bullet recovered under skin, weighed 83.6 grs for 52.25%. I expected better.
As I said, I'd try it again.
Thanks a lot, Jim and Kelly!

sounds like the velocity was too high at that range to ensure bullet integrity. but hey, dead is dead, right?

Great people, especially Kelly.
I hunted with them last year and am going again this next year.
