BoxheadScimitar Oryx - Finally Decided to Go For It
Not much of a report but I have been wanting a scimitar oryx for some time but they were a bit too pricey for me. Now, with prices down, my time home always short and my wife actually wanting one on the wall

I decided to do it. We spent most of a day chasing them in and out of the brush until a large number from the herd came out just outside the brush. Then it was glassing for good horns, ensuring it was a bull ( a must for me), which isn't all that easy given what you are looking for

then waiting to get a clear shot with nothing in front or behind. Much like the hunt for my gemsbuck in SA in 2002. After quite some time I finally got a clear shot at around 150 yards and let the 140 gr Accubond from my 7x57 fly. In and out and, just as my gemsbuck did after being thumped with a 250 gr X from my 9.3x62, the bull turned and just stood there. A second shot in the same place opposite side and he dropped. He's a pretty one and will make a beautiful pedestal mount and fill the freezer with what is claimed as about the finest meat to be had. I had my 13 year old son along and he had a great time glassing and helping find the right bull and keeping track of it while it moved within the herd. A kick in the pants it was.

graybirdBeautiful bull you have there!
Now, you want some thing to fill the freezer that is better then a scimitar? Get yourself an addax!!! I have both in the freezer at the moment and both are excellent tablefare, but I give the nod to the addax.
Congrats again!
